Real Estate Certificate

The Debbie and Jerry Ivy College of Business at Iowa State University will offer an undergraduate certificate in real estate development beginning in the fall of 2025.
This on-campus program is available to all Iowa State University students.
By earning this certificate, you will obtain a deeper understanding of the legal, economic, and financial aspects of real estate.
The objective of the real estate certificate is to provide you with a foundation of knowledge in real estate that will give you a marketable skill set. You will be prepared for jobs in real estate sales, property management, mortgage lending, and asset management.
This certificate seeks to deliver three learning outcomes. You will:
- Understand how properties are owned and operated as for-profit businesses.
- Understand how portfolios of real estate products and securities are structured and utilized as an investment tool.
- Understand the nature of real estate transactions and how they impact the various parties involved in the transaction.

Requirements
The certificate requires at least 21 credits from an approved list of courses and three electives. At least 6 credits should be taken at Iowa State University.

The real estate certificate provides a specialized stream of knowledge. Students who complete this program will become immediate assets to their organizations.
