Since 2016, the Iowa State University Ivy College of Business has hosted an annual analytics symposium in downtown Des Moines, designed for analytics professionals who work in finance, insurance, retail, health care, government, and manufacturing. The Business Analytics Symposium is the premier analytics event in Iowa, with a great line up of speakers who are on the cutting-edge of analytics. For 2019, the one-day event moved to a larger venue — the Community Choice Credit Union Convention Center — to accommodate demand and added a new Executive Track, designed to help executives leverage data and analytics to improve decision making and better lead their organizations.
2019 Business Analytics Symposium
Sold out again! For the fourth year in a row, the Business Analytics Symposium, hosted by the Ivy College of Business, attracted record attendance.
More than 540 people attended the symposium on April 2, which brought together professionals in the analytics field to learn from 44 industry experts. Attendees came from nine states, representing more than 134 organizations.
Speakers from all over the country discussed topics such as data visualization, machine learning, cyber security, transportation analytics, and actuarial science. The 2019 symposium featured two nationally-known keynote speakers: Seth Stephens-Davidowitz, author of the New York Times bestseller Everybody Lies: Big Data, New Data, and What the Internet Can Tell Us About Who We Really Are, and cyber-security expert John Sileo.
“This was an outstanding event, with a great lineup of speakers who are on the cutting-edge of analytics,” said Raisbeck Endowed Dean David Spalding. “We host this annual event because we understand the importance of analytics to every business. For 2019, we moved to the Iowa Events Center to accommodate the growing demand for a symposium known as the premier analytics event in Iowa.”
