Conversation brings together Ivy students, faculty, and staff.
More than 135 Ivy College of Business students, faculty, and staff participated in the college’s third Building Our Community conversation on February 7. The annual event is an opportunity for members of the Ivy community to learn from one another and identify ways to meet the college’s goal of continuous improvement in the areas of diversity and inclusion.
Students, faculty, and staff gathered for small group conversations centered around three themes: inclusiveness, empowerment, and sensitivity/empathy. Facilitators in each group encouraged participants to think about times when they felt welcome, heard, and respected in the college, and asked about action steps that could be taken by the college and individuals. By the end of the event, over 300 responses, written on colorful Post-in notes, filled six posters in Bergstrom Commons. The comments and ideas will be shared with the college’s Diversity Advisory Council and Raisbeck Endowed Dean David Spalding.
The Building Our Community event was sponsored by the Dean’s Office and co-hosted by two student organizations, Business Council and the Multicultural Business Network. Additional support was provided by Colegas, Faculty and Staff Association Council, the Office of Equal Opportunity, the Office of the Vice President for Diversity and Inclusion, Student Counseling Services, and Student Wellness.
