Dear Alumni and Friends,

This academic year began like no other as we enjoy the progress of a 45,000-square-foot expansion to the Gerdin Business Building – a much needed addition for a college that is on the move.

When students and faculty returned to campus in August, many were surprised to see so much change. The active worksite was filled with a team of construction workers who have been busy all summer preparing for steel beams, cement, and vertical structures. With this building expansion, Ivy business students will enjoy having 40 percent more space, including additional classrooms, team rooms, a dedicated sales suite, a large common space for study, and more. As this exciting project continues, we invite you to watch the progress on our website at ivybusiness.iastate.edu/gerdin-grows. You can access it from any computer or mobile device. The expansion project comes on the heels of significant growth in enrollment and programs. It also comes during a year when we celebrate several anniversaries. These details are outlined in our cover story, #GerdinGrows, on page 4.

Last spring, we shared that we were preparing to start two new masters programs for working professionals, a master of real estate development and an executive MBA. At the end of July, our faculty and staff successfully kicked off those programs, as well as our master of business analytics program, which is celebrating five years. We enjoyed welcoming these working professionals to campus and look forward to helping them achieve their career goals as they continue in our programs. Please read the article on page 12.

It was a special time last spring when several business students had the opportunity to meet with our naming donors, Debbie and Jerry Ivy. Their visit coincided with the ISU Alumni Association’s 2019 Distinguished Awards Celebration on April 26, where Debbie was recognized with an Honorary Alumni Award. This meaningful encounter with students is captured in an article on page 14.

As you can see, it has been a busy year. These are just a few examples of exciting projects and successes here at the Ivy College of Business.

As always, we thank you, our friends, alumni, and donors, for your ongoing support. I hope you enjoy reading about some of our many accomplishments in this issue of Prospectus.

Go Cyclones!
