Data Visualization and Storytelling Case Competition

March 4 @ 8:00 am 7:30 pm CST

Students work in a small group at an Ivy College of Business case competition.

Analyze data, uncover insights, and create compelling visualizations

Earn cash prizes, enjoy free food, and connect with senior executives!

Food insecurity is a problem that is often hiding in plain sight. For example, according to recent research, approximately one-third of students at Iowa State University are food insecure. Across Iowa, about 12% of the population is food insecure. In addition to individual hunger, food insecurity poses complex challenges for businesses, nonprofits, and policymakers seeking sustainable, scalable solutions.

In this case competition, teams will analyze datasets to identify patterns, risks, and opportunities to address food insecurity. Participants should apply data analytics techniques to interpret trends, assess local and regional variations, explore demographic differences, and to quantify the impact of potential interventions. Teams are expected to craft a compelling narrative that translates analytical insights into actionable business or operational strategies that improve food access.

The Data Visualization and Storytelling Case Competition is sponsored by the Ivy Business Analytics and Digital Strategy Forum.
