Navigating Storms: Climate, Political, and Cultural Challenges in the Insurance Industry

Iowa State University alumnus Scott Jean, president and CEO of EMC Insurance Companies, will examine how the industry can strategically adapt and innovate to meet these challenges during a public lecture on September 23.

The lecture is open to the public with no charge for admission.

The event is co-sponsored by the Ivy College of Business, Gamma Iota Sigma (the Actuarial Science Club), the Department of Mathematics, and the Iowa State University Committee on Lectures.

About Scott Jean

Scott Jean is president and CEO of EMC Insurance Companies. He began his career with EMC as an intern and enjoyed working in various areas including as an actuary, vice president and chief actuary, and executive vice president of finance and strategy.

Jean earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Iowa State University and remains a proud Cyclone. A fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society and a member of the American Academy of Actuaries, he was awarded the ISU Department of Mathematics Distinguished Alumni Award in 2023.
