Big Budget / Zero Budget Innovations for an Even Better Iowa State

The Ivy College of Business is excited to host our second U.S. Bank Idea Jam on Thursday, October 9. Open to all students enrolled in the Ivy College of Business or College of Engineering, this half-day event asks you to tackle one of these fun challenges as part of a small team:

Option 1

Imagine you and your team have a $1 million budget and one mission: to make Iowa State University or the Ivy College of Business even better. What would you do?

This isn’t about small improvements; we are looking for disruptive, scalable ideas that will have a lasting, positive impact on students’ lives. The only rule is that your idea must be executable within the $1 million budget and must show a path to sustainability.

Option 2

Imagine you and your team have a zero budget and one mission: to make Iowa State University or the Ivy College of Business even better. If you could only use existing campus resources and technology, how would you redesign the student experience to create a significant impact for your fellow students?

Event details

You can register as a team with up to four members, or individually, in which case we will pair you with other participants to create a team of four. The team from U.S. Bank will provide a framework and office supplies to help you get started, plus advice and feedback throughout the afternoon. No pre-work required!

This is a fantastic opportunity to:

• Gain valuable teamwork and executive presentation experience.
• Present your innovation to a judges panel of U.S. Bank, Ivy, and Iowa State leaders.
• Win scholarship money (see amounts below).
• Apply your skills to a business problem that could make a real difference at Iowa State.

Lunch will be provided.

Registration and team formation

The U.S. Bank Idea Jam is open to students enrolled in the Ivy College of Business or the College of Engineering. Space is limited to 48 students. Register as a team (up to four members) or individually, in which case we will pair you with other students to create a team of four. Registration is now closed.

Scholarships

First Place: $1,000 per student
Second Place: $500 per student
Third Place: $250 per student
