Teddy Bekele is the chief technology officer at Land O’Lakes, Inc. He has a passion for researching, developing, and implementing innovative technology solutions to help retailers and farmers produce more nutritious food while using fewer resources in new and sustainable ways. He holds an MBA from Indiana University and a bachelor of science in mechanical engineering from North Carolina State University. Teddy has lived in three different continents and speaks fluent Ethiopian and Italian. He currently lives in Minneapolis, Minnesota, with his wife Michele and 7-year-old son, Teddy Jr., and their newborn daughter, Luna.
The Future of U.S. Presidential Candidate Selection
Steffen W. Schmidt is the Lucken Endowed Professor of Political Science at Iowa State University and an expert on elections and cybersecurity. A frequent guest on political talk shows, Steffen is the author of two books on identity theft and the co-author of the most widely used American government textbook, American Government and Politics Today, now in its 20th edition. He grew up in Colombia, South America; studied in Colombia, Switzerland, and France; and speaks four languages. He holds a bachelor of arts degree from Rollins College in Florida and a Ph.D. in public law and government from Columbia University in New York.
Professor Schmidt will review the 2020 Iowa caucus debacle with special emphasis on the Iowa Democratic Party’s caucus app, the future of presidential candidate selection, as well as cybersecurity and democracy. He will be joined by Kathie Obradovich, Iowa editor-in-chief for the Iowa Capital Dispatch, for a conversation about the Iowa caucuses.
