Fully online and built for the future

The Debbie and Jerry Ivy College of Business Department of Supply Chain Management – consistently ranked among the best in the world for empirical supply chain research – has launched a fully online master of science in supply chain management. The program began in August and is designed to meet the evolving needs of professionals and students alike.

A timely and relevant degree

In today’s fast-changing world, supply chain disruptions – from global pandemics to geopolitical shocks – have become regular headlines. This has created an urgent demand for professionals who understand how to design, manage, and lead resilient and responsive supply chains. The new program is highly relevant in addressing these challenges by equipping students with the skills and knowledge to succeed in this dynamic field.

“At the Ivy College of Business, we have one of the best supply chain departments in the world,” said Raisbeck Endowed Dean Raj Agnihotri. “For anyone interested in an online master’s degree in supply chain management, learning from the faculty at Iowa State is the best choice.”

Built for working professionals and non-traditional supply chain backgrounds

Delivered 100 percent online, the program is ideal for:

  • Alumni who now work in supply chain roles but did not major in supply chain management as undergraduate students.
  • Working professionals in other fields who want to pivot into a supply chain career.
  • Current Iowa State undergraduate students in non-supply chain majors, such as animal science, engineering, or business, who are interested in a concurrent master’s degree.

“This program is designed to be flexible, accessible, and applicable,” said Supply Chain Professor David Cantor, program director and the Ruan Chair in Supply Chain Management. “We built it with the understanding that many talented professionals enter supply chain roles from different educational backgrounds. Our goal is to provide those individuals with an opportunity to strengthen their knowledge and credentials.”

A flexible, fast-track option with experiential learning

Students can complete the program in as little as 12 months. The program features rolling admissions, real-world project components, and an emphasis on analytics. It also incorporates team-based, experiential learning designed to mirror workplace challenges.

The program is also designed with a strong analytical emphasis and is pursuing STEM designation to further align with industry needs.
