The focus will be on the financial sustainability of healthcare organizations
Join us at Iowa State University for the Healthcare Management Summit, hosted by the Ivy College of Business and the Iowa chapter of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE of Iowa). The keynote speaker and a panel discussion will explore a timely topic: the financial sustainability of healthcare organizations.
“Financial sustainability has become one of the most pressing challenges for leaders across the industry,” said event organizer Natallia Gray, executive director of healthcare initiatives at the Ivy College of Business. “Our keynote and panel will highlight practical strategies for navigating financial pressures while maintaining a strong focus on patients and communities.”
The event will feature a keynote address by David Stark (’94 management), chief of government affairs and philanthropy at UnityPoint Health. Stark’s lecture, “Future Healthcare Financial Challenges: Pressures, Policy, and Possibilities,” will be at 4:30 p.m. in the Cardinal Room of the Memorial Union.
A Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, Stark previously served as president and CEO of UnityPoint Health – Des Moines.
An ACHE of Iowa panel discussion, “The Financial Sustainability of Healthcare Organizations,” will follow the keynote. The discussion will feature four healthcare executives:
- Tammy Chance, chief medical officer, Broadlawns Medical Center.
- Sandra Christensen, vice president of finance operations, MercyOne Critical Access Hospitals.
- Ashley Recknor, specialty services officer, Iowa Specialty Hospitals and Clinics.
- Melanie Teske, vice president of provider relations and engagement, Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield.
The conversation will be moderated by John Meyer, executive director of business development at Mary Greeley Medical Center and associate professor of practice at Ivy.
“We’re excited to bring together ACHE of Iowa members, healthcare executives, and students to exchange ideas and explore innovative approaches to long-term sustainability,” Gray said. “This summit provides a unique opportunity to learn from leaders on the front lines of these challenges and to strengthen connections across the healthcare community.”
