The Ivy College of Business marketing and communications services team is a one-stop-shop for business faculty, staff, and student organizations who need assistance with marketing, branding, and general promotions at the college. Our team offers a variety of services, which are outlined in our bios below.

Michele Appelgate,director of marketing and communications, supervises and leads the marketing efforts at the Ivy College of Business. Under the direction of the dean, she aligns the marketing efforts with the college’s strategic plan. She leads a team that includes website, photography, graphic design, social media, alumni relations, print and digital advertising, and event planning. She writes content for the college newsletters and magazine, Prospectus, which is mailed to more than 30,000 alumni and friends each fall and spring. Michele is an award-winning journalist whose experience includes newspaper reporting, magazine writing, emergency and risk communications, public relations, and community college marketing and legislative advocacy in Pennsylvania and Iowa. Her hometown is Ames. She graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in journalism and mass communication.
Emily Bowman, graphic designer, is responsible for maintaining the visual identity of the Ivy College of Business through a variety of print and electronic media. Typical projects include designing materials for event marketing, student recruitment, college publicity, corporate identity, presentations, electronic newsletters, posters, plasma TV promotions, and student organization promotions. Emily also manages and creates content for the college’s social media sites, and serves as a back-up for the college’s digital media coordinator when help is needed with photography and minor updates to the website.
Emily worked at a design firm in Ankeny before joining Iowa State in 2016. She graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a degree in graphic design.
Suzanne Lyndon is the primary event planner for the Ivy College of Business, coordinating conferences and symposiums, receptions, convocations, and more. She orders a lot of coffee and donuts. She also helps with alumni relations, writing, and marketing/communications. If you have an upcoming event, please contact Suzanne early in your planning stage to ask how she can assist.
Suzanne has 22 years of experience working in higher education, including 10 years as an academic advisor at the University of Minnesota Duluth. Most recently, she served as media coordinator and then executive assistant to the president at Luther College.
Meredith Francom is the Masters Marketing and Alumni Relations Coordinator. She is responsible for leading the marketing efforts and promotions for master’s programs and general alumni relations for the Ivy College of Business. This includes writing content for various media and working closely with each director of graduation education to determine the marketing needs of each program.
Prior to joining the Ivy School team, Meredith worked for the Marriot School of Management at Brigham Young University where she graduated with a degree in public relations in 2013.
Fritz Nordengrenis the Digital Media Coordinator. In that role, he maintains, updates, and promotes the college website; is responsible for producing videos; and serves as the college in-house photographer. Fritz works with the marketing and communications team to develop concepts and messages that support the college’s strategic plan through video and photography. He manages the coordination of talent, and coordinates schedules of all photo and video shoots. He manages all video and still photo libraries along with distribution of the media to internal and external clients.
As a producer and photojournalist, Fritz has documented humanitarian medical relief efforts around the world and has traveled and photographed 21 countries. His work has received awards and recognition from USA Today, the National Press Photographers Association, and was twice named one of the Top 100 Producers in the United States.
