Below you will find some of the more commonly asked questions from our new full-time MBA students.
All Iowa State students have an Iowa State email address. You will need to visit Beardshear Hall to get your student ID card first. Then visit Durham Building to set up your email account.
U-bills are available on AccessPlus. You will use your university ID number to log into the AccessPlus system. Please contact Debbie Johnson at firstname.lastname@example.org to receive your initial password.
You can register for classes on AccessPlus. The MBA staff will register you for the first semester of your core classes. After your first semester, you will be responsible for registering for classes in a timely manner. You will receive a date and time that you will be able to begin registration for each semester. If you have any problems registering, please contact Debbie Johnson at email@example.com. Your class schedule will be posted on AccessPlus too.
Classes are held at the Gerdin Business Building on the Iowa State University campus.
Grades are available on AccessPlus.
The internal MBA Case Competition provides first-year full-time MBA students with an opportunity to use the knowledge they have acquired during core courses. In the course of 24 hours, the teams will need to analyze a business case and present their findings to a panel of judges. Scholarships are awarded for the winning team and individuals with outstanding performance during competition. Award recipients will be recognized at the MBA Case Competition Reception.
Team-building experiences are an important part of orientation during the first week of class. These sessions will give you an opportunity to meet your team members and learn how to become a highly functioning team. Teams may solve issues internally or seek a facilitator. MBA core faculty members serve as team advisors. MBA staff is also available to help.
There is one team rooms available in the Gerdin Business Building in rooms: 1114. The Team room is for groups to reserve when working on group projects.
The Team room contains one computer and a 40” display with wireless connection.
You must be a College of Business student to use the room. It is advisable to reserve the room early in order to get the room at the desired time. You can have the room for a maximum of 3 hours. The rooms are unlocked during the day. You just need to go to the room at your reservation time. If there is open time in a room, it is available on a first come, first serve basis.
Yes, the Gerdin Business Building has wireless computer access.
The Steve and Debbie Bergstrom Computer Lab is located in 1122 Gerdin Business Building. Only College of Business students will have the ability to use the computers in the Bergstrom Computer Lab. To sign on for the first time, please follow the directions on the desktop.
