Master of Science in Information Systems Curriculum

I.  Required MIS Core Courses –  15 credits

  • MIS 501   Management Information Systems
  • MIS 599   Experiential Learning Capstone for Information Systems
  • Three courses (9 credits) from the following:
    • MIS 533 Data Management for Decision Makers
    • MIS 536 Business Analytics Foundation
    • MIS 537 Project Management
    • MIS 538 Business Process Systems

II.  Elective Courses – 15 credits

Selected from a list of allowable courses, or with advisor approval

III.  Optional Thesis (6 credits MIS 699)

*Students pursuing thesis option must petition to waive MIS 599.

Total:  30 or 33 credits minimum

Electives:  (other courses must be approved by your advisor before registration)

  • Any 500 level MIS course
  • Any 500 level College of Business course, with the preapproval of your advisor
  • MIS 655 – Organizational and Social Implications of HCI
  • INFAS 530 – Network Protocols and Security  (Note:  only one of MIS 535 or INFAS 530 will count towards graduation)
  • INFAS 531 – Information Systems Security
  • INFAS 532 – Information Warfare
  • Industrial Engineering (IE) 581 – E-commerce Systems Engineering
  • Industrial Engineering (IE) 583 – Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining
