This year marks 10 years of Young Women in Business programming supported by the Ivy College of Business at Iowa State University. The goal of Young Women in Business (YWIB) is to inspire young women to identify their passion, and learn more about the impact of a business education on the world through career exploration. As we move into our tenth year of YWIB programming, we are excited to announce expanded offerings to better serve young women exploring the many opportunities of a business education.
The Young Women in Business Conference is held annually each spring. This engaging one-day event is designed for young women in grades 8-10, and is ideal for school groups. Participants work in teams to create and pitch a product that addresses a challenge in their school, coached by Ivy College of Business faculty and students. Through this hands-on team project, students are introduced to the majors within business, the various skills needed and utilized in business, and the many career opportunities available. This event has a modest registration fee.
Young Women in Business Visit Day is held annually each fall. This day-in-the-life experience is designed to give high school students the opportunity to explore what it’s really like to study business at Iowa State. Students attend a mini-class taught by Ivy faculty, connect with members of the Collegiate Women in Business student organization, tour the Gerdin Business Building and campus, enjoy lunch at a dining center, network with recent alumni, and more! This program is designed for students in grades 11-12 and is free of charge.
