Shelby Petersen
Hello everyone!
My name is Shelby Petersen. I’m a concurrent MBA student with an undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering. I’m originally from a northwest suburb of Chicago. Whether it’s summer or winter, you can find my friends/family outside enjoying the weather. As a peer mentor for undeclared engineering students, I lead first-year students in activities that help them navigate the different engineering disciplines and support them through their transition to college. I have also had two internships in the last two summers. One was as a mechanical engineer intern at an HVAC company, and the other was as a project engineer intern at Fellowes Brand. Fellowes is a family-owned company that creates products in areas like records storage solutions, business machines, workspace management products, air purification, and mobile technology accessories. Here, I was able to learn and develop new and continuous product processes. Through this internship, I discovered my passion for product development and now know that being a project manager/engineer is what I see myself doing in the future!
