Amir Zahedi is a fifth-year Ph.D. candidate in marketing. His research is focused on digital technology disruptions in the business landscape. Under this broad realm, his dissertation delves into a significant aspect of this field: data and analytics innovations. Specifically, Amir’s research focuses on how marketing analytics innovations and AI-driven digital innovations contribute to companies’ financial success. His interests also extend to exploring digital technology disruptions in various contexts, including sales domains, entrepreneurial ventures, the entertainment industry, and B2B/B2G sectors. Amir’s academic excellence is highlighted by his numerous prestigious awards, including: winner of the first-place award in the PDMA Doctoral Dissertation Proposal Competition, winner of the Marketing Strategy SIG Doctoral Student Research Award, winner of the Best Paper Award in Track at the AMA Conference, and finalist in Institute for the Study of Business Markets (ISBM) Doctoral Support Award Competition. He also received the Iowa State University’s Graduate College Teaching Excellence Award.

Amir’s expertise as a quantitative empirical modeler is underpinned by his extensive training in econometrics and statistics, which enables him to address complex research questions using a wide array of advanced empirical modeling methodologies. His areas of expertise encompass quasi-experimental causal inference, econometrics modeling, panel data analyses, and event studies. Additionally, he has utilized web scraping, text analysis and topic modeling, survey research, and interviews to examine various phenomena across his research.

Before embarking on his Ph.D. journey, Amir completed his MSc in Entrepreneurship and BSc in Industrial Engineering from top universities in Iran. His pre-academic career includes entrepreneurial roles in startups and managerial positions in SMEs in Iran. Outside academia, Amir, a former collegiate basketball player, still occasionally hits the court for a game, and enjoys refining his coffee barista skills, cooking diverse cuisines, and playing board games with family and friends.
