Bio
Michael J. Dwyer is a Ph.D. candidate in Supply Chain Management at Iowa State University. His research investigates emerging forms of logistics coordination, including crowdsourced delivery and ride-hailing systems, using behavioral methods, simulation, and qualitative approaches. He is also engaged in ongoing research using econometric modeling to study service system performance. His work explores how platform-based supply chains are shaped by participant decision-making and the integration of machine learning and AI technologies.
Prior to his doctoral studies, Michael worked in finance and insurance, managing operational and financial risk. He also served as an independent researcher in Guatemala, studying humanitarian aid logistics. He is a U.S. Air Force veteran and holds an M.B.A. from the University of West Florida and a B.A. from James Madison University. Applying his experience in the classroom, he focuses on helping students develop structured, applied understanding of complex systems in his supply chain management courses.
