Gerdin Leaders Academy

The Gerdin Leaders Academy is a program designed to increase your involvement at the Ivy College of Business while engaging in opportunities to develop your knowledge and skills in five areas: ethics, leadership, service to community, professional development, and diversity and global perspectives.

Participants have two semesters to complete 11 activities in these areas. The Gerdin Leaders Academy is a great opportunity to build your resume and develop the skills employers want.

Business Learning Teams

The Ivy College of Business proudly offers a learning community experience each fall to transfer students and incoming first-year students through the Business Learning Team (BLT) program.

Learning communities are designed to ease your transition to college life at Iowa State University and the Ivy College of Business. BLTs pair groups of incoming students with experienced Ivy student leaders who serve as peer mentors to teams of 10-12 students in each BusAd 102 class (Business Learning Team Orientation). You will explore and implement academic success strategies, develop professional networking and communication skills, and make connections with other new students in your team.

For more information, email BLT program coordinators, Kathy Weaver kweaver@iastate.edu and Rhaechel Ohge Fritz reofritz@iastate.edu.

CyBIZ Lab

The Iowa State University CyBIZ Lab provides the opportunity for cross-functional teams of students to work on business and organizational projects. As a student, you gain hands-on experience working to solve real business problems. CyBIZ Lab consulting services are available to existing businesses and corporations, startups, and non-profit organizations.

The CyBIZ Lab student application site is always open, so you can apply at any time. The program regularly recruits students in marketing, supply chain management, management, business analytics, finance, and communications, as well as first-year MBA students. For more information, visit the CyBiz Lab website or follow CyBiz Lab on LinkedIn.

Business Ambassadors

Business ambassadors are student volunteers that assist in the recruitment of prospective high school and community college students. Ambassadors are genuine about their experiences and provide a positive, inside look at being an Ivy College of Business student.

As an ambassador, you will participate in prospective student visit presentations, provide tours of the Gerdin Business Building, and participate in on-campus outreach events such as Experience Iowa State, student panels, and other activities hosted by the Ivy College of Business.

For more information, contact Tyler Easton, director of undergraduate recruitment, teaston@iastate.edu.
