Ivy Custom Education

Custom education is now available for business and organizations

To drive business success, the Debbie and Jerry Ivy College of Business at Iowa State University now offers custom education to businesses and organizations throughout Iowa.

“Our custom education programs connect high-potential employees with the expertise and experience of our internationally known faculty. We design each program to meet the needs of any organization,” said Raisbeck Endowed Dean David Spalding. “We bring our faculty to you to enhance an organization’s learning journey.”

Ivy faculty will transform cutting-edge research and methods into relevant business tools and applications.

Ivy’s custom education program, also known as executive education in many places, is under the leadership of Raj Agnihotri, founding director of the Ivy Sales Forum and a professor of marketing.

With the launch of the new program, Agnihotri will have an expanded role at the college.

Raj Agnihotri“I am thrilled about this responsibility. This initiative provides me with an opportunity to serve both the university and Iowa businesses as we bring the expertise of our faculty to organizations pursuing learning journeys.”

Agnihotri now also serves as the executive director of industry engagement. In this role, he will lead the Ivy custom education initiative that will develop and deliver two types of programs: training programs to increase employee skills and executive education programs to help executives take on higher responsibilities. Both types of programs will be customized to company needs and taught by experienced faculty from the Ivy College of Business.

“I am thrilled about this responsibility. This initiative provides me with an opportunity to serve both the university and Iowa businesses as we bring the expertise of our faculty to organizations pursuing learning journeys,” Agnihotri said.

The Ivy custom education program is on-site professional development for leaders, executives, and high-potential employees within an organization. “It’s a great way to retain the best employees and make them even more effective,” Agnihotri said.

Professors at the Ivy College of Business have published hundreds of research articles in the most elite business journals and have the ability to share that expertise with business leaders. “They also teach classes for hundreds of executives and working professionals enrolled in top-ranked, graduate-level programs. Custom education programs take a more focused approach and bring this knowledge to Iowa businesses so that employees can engage with the Ivy faculty in interactive sessions designed for the particular training needs of the organization.”

The Ivy College of Business currently has close relationships with many Iowa businesses and organizations through existing executive advisory boards in each academic department. This helps college leaders strengthen instruction, research, and outreach programs, providing the best education for student success.

Apart from developing and delivering customized programs, Ivy faculty also offer an array of ready-to-deliver executive education programs focusing on strategic and contemporary topics to help executives take on higher responsibilities or fulfill their current needs and future goals.

A few examples of topics available include:

  • Management – including leadership, talent management, and negotiation.
  • Strategy – including innovation, regulation, and government relations.
  • Information technology – including data analytics and cyber security.
  • Marketing – including effective selling and customer experience management.
  • Supply chain – including fundamentals of supply chain and international sourcing strategies.
  • Finance and accounting – including financial acumen, decision-making, and business law.
