Carriers struggle with hiring and retaining qualified drivers, which threatens their productivity and profitability. Pay plays an important role in driver turnover; however, paying drivers more than what they currently make is only part of the solution. Drivers are sensitive to changes in their pay but are especially sensitive to how much they could make working in other industries.
