Fall convocation 2023

Iowa State University’s fall 2023 graduation celebrations will draw thousands of people to Hilton Coliseum on December 15 and 16. Every semester, seven students are selected by Ivy faculty to be student marshals for their respective departments and lead their fellow graduates across the stage at the Ivy College of Business convocation ceremony. An eighth student is selected to serve as the Ivy student marshal at the university’s undergraduate commencement ceremony.

The Ivy College of Business is pleased to announce the fall 2023 student marshals for the college convocation ceremony on December 15 and the university’s undergraduate commencement ceremony on December 16.

Sydney Damstra, from Boyden, Iowa, will serve as the finance student marshal at the Ivy convocation ceremony. Damstra is graduating with a bachelor of science in finance and business analytics, summa cum laude. She has accepted a position with Workiva as a financial analyst.

Abbey-Fryauf-MKTAbbey Fryauf, from West Branch, Iowa, will serve as the marketing student marshal at the Ivy convocation ceremony. Fryauf is graduating with a bachelor of science in marketing and a certificate in professional sales. She has accepted a position with Holmes Murphy as a junior client executive in their Sioux Falls, South Dakota, office.

Joshua-Gartin-ACCTJoshua Gartin, from Ames, Iowa, will serve as the accounting student marshal at the Ivy convocation ceremony. Gartin is graduating with a bachelor of science in accounting and entrepreneurship, magna cum laude. After graduation, he will start work as a tax associate at RSM in Des Moines and prepare to pass the CPA exam.

Joseph-Kasal-ISBAJoseph Kasal, from Montezuma, Iowa, will serve as the information systems and business analytics student marshal at the Ivy convocation ceremony. Kasal is graduating with a bachelor of science in management information systems, summa cum laude. He has accepted a position with 3M as a network automation engineer.

Megan-Utterback-SCMMegan Utterback, from Ankeny, Iowa, will serve as the supply chain management student marshal at the Ivy convocation ceremony. Utterback is graduating with a bachelor of science in supply chain management, magna cum laude. She has accepted a position with Polaris in their Operations Leadership Development Program.

Maci-Wittrock-MGMT-ENTSPMaci Wittrock, from Carroll, Iowa, will serve as the management and entrepreneurship student marshal at the Ivy convocation ceremony. Wittrock is graduating with a bachelor of science in healthcare management, summa cum laude. She is the first student to graduate with the college’s new major in healthcare management. After graduation, she plans to pursue a master’s degree in healthcare administration.

Rachel-Faircloth-MBARachel Faircloth, from Ames, Iowa, will serve as the MBA student marshal at the Ivy convocation ceremony. Faircloth will apply her MBA skill set to her work as the communications and stakeholder engagement manager for the Women in Science and Engineering (WiSE) program at Iowa State University.

Derek-Kinney-University-marshalDerek Kinney, from Reinbeck, Iowa, will serve as the Ivy College of Business student marshal at Iowa State’s undergraduate commencement ceremony. Kinney is graduating with a bachelor of science in business analytics and finance, summa cum laude. He has accepted a position with Land O’Lakes in their IT Talent Acceleration Program in Minneapolis.
