When teams face unforeseen, and often overwhelmingly negative contingencies, they are likely to respond with dysfunctional negative emotions, like fear or anxiety. As such, emotion is often viewed as the bad guy in relation to change, but it can actually be functional or dysfunctional, depending on how emotions are leveraged. Persuasion is a big part of that.
