Online application

The Ivy MHAO program admits students annually in the fall, spring, and summer semester. Successful applicants are suggested to have two years of professional experience but is not required.

Application requirements

  • Resume.
  • College transcripts.
  • Two letters of recommendation.
  • Statement of purpose.
  • TOEFL, IELTS, or Duolingo English Score for non-native English-speaking applicants.

Once the application is complete, it will be reviewed by the program. You may be contacted to schedule an interview as part of the admissions process.

**This program is not approved in SEVIS to issue Forms I-20 or DS-2019 for F-1 or J-1 status. However, an international student who has an F-1/J-1 status for another full-time, residential program can add this online program as a second major

Curriculum

The master of healthcare analytics curriculum features 100 percent online coursework and an internship or elective coursework based on your interests.

Of the 30 credits, eight courses (24 credits) are required, leaving you two elective courses to choose from.

Overall, the program provides a foundation in:

  • data visualization.

Customize your internship to fit your interests. The internship opportunity allows for focused training in areas such as healthcare data security, risk management and process improvement. Students with healthcare industry experience may also choose a project within their current employer as their internship. This requirement takes place during your last semester.

Classes are available year-round, so you can finish in as few as 15 months.

Skills and competencies

MHAO degree prepares you for industry certification

The MHAO program curriculum aligns with the competencies required for the Certified Health Data Analyst (CHDA) exam. Administered by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA), this exam validates expertise in healthcare analysis, data management, and reporting.

According to AHIMA, “individuals who earn the CHDA designation will achieve recognition of their expertise in health data analysis and validation of their mastery of this domain. This certification provides practitioners with the knowledge to acquire, manage, analyze, interpret, and transform data into accurate, consistent, and timely information, while balancing the “big picture” strategic vision with day-to-day details.”

Earning an MHAO degree not only meets the eligibility requirements to take the CHDA exam, but it also prepares you for the exam in ways other fields of study can’t.
